Irish Extra Stout is a delicious play on the traditional Irish Stout that packs a slightly stronger punch and more overall flavor. While not necessarily known for being difficult to make, we brewed one up using a handful of corner-cutting methods including not measuring out the grains, then served it to blind tasters for evaluation.

I sure miss the good ole’ days before these videos. It was nice to have a downloadable file to import, and of course, I could print the article and recipe… Now, I don’t even watch the videos since they are so long and drawn out and really they don’t serve a purpose for me. Please, at least, give us an option to download the article and recipe.
To be fair, you DID actually measure ingredients. You just used volume instead of weight, with “scoop” being your unit of measure – albeit relatively low precision (and certainly not an internationally recognized standard unit), but a measurement none the less.
Great video article, Martin! Keep up the hard work chap – it’s appreciated.
I for one understand that the point of the experiment was to estimate recipe proportions rather than use weighing scales. At no point did you state that you wouldn’t be measuring ingredients – that’s almost impossible – a handful is a measurement, for example. Turns out brewing a tasty beer is actually quite simple – who knew?!
It’s great to have *extra* content on the website alongside the written exbeeriments.
