Hey all,
We’re currently hammering away at a few projects including a very interesting look at xBmt performance based on level of experience. This and more will be coming soon, but today I wanted to break from our regular publishing schedule to address a couple things, the most important of which is…
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
As the xBmt series began picking up steam, I set an arbitrary minimum sample size of 15 participants in order to reduce the chances of error and increase validity. Still, this is pretty low, and while the aim is always to surpass this limit, getting participants can be frustratingly difficult at times. And so, loyal readers, I come to you with a plea for assistance, a way for you to contribute without all the crap involved in designing an xBmt, brewing the batches, giving half the beer away, and otherwise putting up with my bullshit.
Brülosophy has contributors in various regions of the United States, many of which are homebrewing and craft beer hot spots. What we’ve mostly been doing is taking xBmt beers to club meetings and local taprooms, often times involving long drives for what could end up being a slow night. The time has come to increase our reach, improve our data, and get you involved! If you live near one of areas we’re located and you want to lend your palate to the cause, we’d like to add your name to a list of potential participants, which the contributor will use to contact you when they’ve an xBmt they’re collecting data for to setup a tasting date. Pretty simple, eh? If you’re interested, all you have to do is let us know by emailing the contributor who lives nearest you and we’ll add your name!

For those who don’t live near any of us, I have another idea, but it will involve a little more work. After chatting to ensure you’ll administer the survey according to our standard protocol, we’ll get you the samples with instructions and materials we use for data collection, then you’d be responsible for organizing a pool of participants and getting the data collected in a timely manner. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, please contact me (Marshall) to get more information.
Having your name added to the list does not make participation mandatory by any means, it simply allows us to let you know we’re ready to collect data. I promise we’ll leave you alone if you end up being unavailable or disinterested. Please, if you’ve any interest at all, let us know!
Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the rad businesses that have chosen to sponsor Brülosophy via the provision of gear and ingredients, it’s truly appreciated, as we wouldn’t be able to bring you the content we do as often as we do without it. All 5 of us work full-time jobs and have other obligations that keep us busy, the fact we’re able to pull this off is a testament not only to the support of sponsors like Love2Brew, HomeBrewSupply, and Great Fermentations, but most importantly those of you who regularly purchase stuff through our affiliate links. This shit don’t come cheap, so every little bit helps. I know a small minority of people take issue with this stuff, I can’t for the life of me understand why, I suppose all I can do is suggest ignoring whatever it is you don’t like and moving on.
Cheers and thanks so much for the encouragement and support!

I, for one, am saddened by the fact that I don’t live in one of these areas. If you end up finding a contributor in the metro Detroit area count me in as an xbmt participant/facilitator of tastings, etc. If I had redundant gear I would volunteer myself.
But you can still be involved by hosting your own tasting event! If you have access to a group (4-6) of beer folk, shoot me an email and we can chat about it.
Here’s’ another vote for southeast Michigan 🙂
Fellow southeast Michiganders, I miss you! Moved to Chicago a few months back, if I’ll goes well I’ll hopefully be hosting a tasting event. Come visit the windy city, they’ll provide the beer! 🙂
Also in southeast Michigan
I guess Melbourne, Australia is a little too far eh?
It sounds like you need to move to southeast Michigan!
A little 🙁
If you expand to the UK let know
I just moved from the south Florida scene, but if ever you need more taters in that area for an exbmt then look up Pompano Beach Hopaholics on Facebook. The group is quickly growing and I am sure some would love to drive down to Miami to be a part of Brulosophy.
Hi Marshall! Do you need some help in Brazil! I m a huge fan of your site, keep on! Cheers .
Hey! Unfortunately, shipping outside of the US is going to be pretty cost prohibitive, I’ll have to figure something out soon.
