Back in 2011, Marshall’s family was joined by his brewing buddy on a trip to one of the beeriest meccas, Russian River Brewing Company in Santa Rosa, CA. It just so happened that Mike “Tasty” McDole had brewed a ProAm batch of his famous Janet’s Brown Ale around that time, which the guys tried and adored! While cruising through a notably packed flight of delicious beers, Chris got to work designing an inspired-by version of a Brown IPA that Marshall contributed to as well. Once home from that trip, the initial batch of Downtown Blurry Brown was brewed, and it was a hit. Over the ensuing few years, slight modifications were made, mostly to the hopping regiment (to keep the bitterness in check), but the bones have remained largely the same. This is an excellent style fo all seasons, though pairs especially well with cool, dark nights huddled around a boardgame or campfire with loved ones.
